Heritage Park, located on 2 acres of land in downtown Edgewood, is owned and operated by the Edgewood Historical Society, Inc. Edgewood Heritage Park was founded in 1976 as a bi-centennial ongoing project. This outdoor museum encompasses authentically restored and furnished structures representing rural life in East Texas circa 1900. This living history museum is composed of 16 lots and 20 authentically restored and furnished buildings depicting rural life in East Texas during the late 1800's and early 1900's. The cornerstone of the Heritage Park Museum is the 1898 Spradlin dogtrot cabin, which was moved to the Heritage Park Museum site. Other buildings in Heritage Park include the James Scott log cabin, circa 1875, a one-room school house, print shop, blacksmith shop, depot, general store, gas station, barber shop, café, church, and much more. ![]() The Park is located in the center of Edgewood (on US Hwy 80 -- 50 miles east of Dallas.) This is a showcase of rural East Texas in it's early development. The purpose of the museum is to preserve the rural culture and architectural heritage of Texas to ensure present and future generations an opportunity to celebrate their heritage. The Village is the focal point of Downtown Edgewood, covering parts of three downtown city blocks, and is the site for many community celebrations. It is the destination of tourists in search of an historical attraction void of the hustle and bustle associated with the metropolitan areas. ![]() Educational programs are offered to schools with the emphasis on the third and fourth grades. During the tours, students experience activities of yesteryear through demonstrations by costumed and trained docents. The film industry has chosen this quiet, rural village as the setting for scenes in several television productions. Our mission is to preserve the cultural and architectural heritage of rural East Texas through exhibits and educational opportunities for present and future generations. The 30th annual EDGEWOOD HERITAGE FESTIVAL AND BAZAAR is a one-day celebration in the Heritage Park Museum and on the streets of Edgewood, November 10, 2007 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 4:00 p.m. A variety of entertainment will be on tap for the event that is hailed by folks near and far as a "must". It is truly a down-home cultural experience that offers something for everyone. THE EDGEWOOD HERITAGE FESTIVAL is the major fund raising effort by the Edgewood Historical Society in its quest to maintain Heritage Park Museum - an architectural exhibit of 20 restored and furnished structures reminiscent of rural Van Zandt County around 1900.
